Christmas Home Safety Game: Spot 11 Hazards in Realistic 3D

November 1, 2026 Quiz Spot the Hazard 0
Realistic 3D home decorated for Christmas, with a tree, a fireplace and a kitchen

This is a Christmas home safety game you can walk around. It looks like a modern game: a warm living room with a lit fire, a decorated tree, a table laid for dinner and a toddler in a Santa hat crawling toward the fire. Your job is to find the 11 hazards, from the overloaded power strip to the ice outside the front door.

Play Christmas Home (Hyper-real)

What makes this version different

The house, the furniture and the people are modelled in detail, with brick, wood and tile scanned from real surfaces and the warm light of the lamps and the fire baked into every room. It opens on a light version so it starts quickly on a phone; the ? button in the game loads high detail (12 MB). It runs in your browser and takes 2 free minutes on each game, no sign-up.

What you will practise

Fire, electrics, slips and trips around a festive home.

How to play

  • On a phone or tablet: your left thumb walks, a drag anywhere else looks around, and a tap identifies.
  • On a computer: W, A, S and D walk, dragging the mouse looks around, and a click identifies.
  • Keyboard only: the arrow keys walk and turn, Page Up and Page Down look up and down, and Enter identifies whatever is in the centre circle.

Use it with your team

  1. As a group: put one game on a projector or a TV. One person walks, and the group calls out what they see.
  2. One each: send the link to everyone’s phone. Each person plays alone, then compare scores and the hazards people missed.
  3. Talk it through: the end screen lists every missed hazard. Ask the team which of them you have on your own site, and who will fix it.
  4. On paper: ten of the games come with a PDF and a PowerPoint of the picture with the answers, linked under each game above.

If you run safety for a team, POLLE Safety is free web software for Permit to Work, Toolbox Talks, Safety Committee and Spot the Hazard 3D: free, every module, no card, no caps. Try it.

The 11 hazards

Try the game first. The list below gives the game away.

Show the answers: try the game first
  1. Fireplaces pose burn risks from heat and sparks; always use barriers and supervise children closely.
  2. Keep all combustible materials like stockings, decorations, or furniture at least three feet away from the fireplace to prevent fires.
  3. Overloading sockets can cause overheating and electrical fires; always use surge protectors and avoid plugging in too many high-power devices.
  4. Spilled water creates a slip-and-fall hazard, especially when unnoticed; clean spills immediately to prevent accidents.
  5. Always use a fireplace screen or door to contain burning wood and prevent accidents.
  6. A broken or damaged plank poses a trip-and-fall risk, especially during festivities when foot traffic increases.
  7. Ice-covered surfaces create a significant slip hazard, especially at entry points where people are likely to tread
  8. Ensure the stove is never left unattended.
  9. Ensure Christmas light wires are securely taped down and placed out of walkways to prevent tripping hazards during holiday celebrations.
  10. Place flower pots securely on stable surfaces away from the fridge to prevent them from falling and causing injury when the fridge is opened.
  11. Keep Christmas gift boxes organized and off the floor to avoid tripping hazards and maintain a safe environment during holiday preparations.
